The Secret to Getting What You Want

is to notice where your putting your attention. The old saying “What you put your attention on grows” is the truth. It’s a Law of Attraction fact that you get more of whatever your putting your attention on and giving emotion to. Is it possible that you’re putting more attention on what you don’t want instead of what you do want? Is your self-talk enhancing your feelings about what you don’t have? Are you spending more time complaining about what you don’t have rather than being grateful for what you do have? Are you feeling like a “have not” instead of a “have” and enhancing those feelings because of the things you’re saying to yourself and possibly saying to others as well? Answering these questions takes an open mind, a willingness to be honest and is a lesser known secret to getting what you want.

Notice What You’re Saying

Let’s say you’re using the secret to getting what you want and you’re trying to manifest or attract a bigger home, or a better car, or even a loving partner. It’s very important for you to notice what you’re saying and how you’re thinking. You may very well think you’re putting your attention and emotion on what you’re wanting but it might sound a lot like this. “Gee, my house is so tiny, I don’t have any closet space.” Or “All men cheat, at least those are the ones who are attracted to me”. Or “Damn this old car… All of that is interpreted by the “Universe” as your declarations of what you want. Does any of this sound familiar? Could you be thinking you’re using the secret to getting what want but inadvertently using it to get what you don’t want? Funny how that works.

Those thoughts combined with feeling are the perfect recipe to attract more of the same.

The same kinds of things you don’t want. Chances are you’re emotionally invested in those “truths”. As a matter of fact those thoughts probably sound a lot like the things your parents or early caregivers used to say. You should ask yourself if those negative thoughts have become beliefs?

Your beliefs Power Your Thoughts

Beliefs become thoughts and thoughts become things. As I’ve explained above, thoughts combined with emotion, or feeling is one of the ways the secret to getting what you want works. It makes sense then to examine your beliefs and ask yourself if they are necessarily true. Who installed these beliefs? Did they know the truth, or have you simply assumed it is the truth?

Resistance to “what is” doesn’t help you get what you want.

Most of us have a subconscious belief that in order to get what we want we must fight “what is”, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. We fight against “what is” as if that’s the secret to getting what we want. We must accept what is as it is now, and then put our attention on what we do want. Resisting what is, is again putting your attention and emotion on what you don’t want, and in doing that you’re actually giving it power. When you accept what is, you have the energy to place your attention and emotion on what you’re wanting and then you can bring it into your life.

The following are some simple steps

you can take in order to use the secret of getting what you want for a specific outcome.

  • Begin by asking yourself what you want
  • Then formulate a picture of that in your mind, or you could try using a vision board for this.
  • Come up with an easy to say affirmation in present moment time
  • Observe your pattern of self talk and redirect to your affirmation
  • Observe what you say to others and redirect to your affirmation

    My mom came across the book of “the secret” and while I’m waiting for her to finish it and lend it to me my husband and I watched the movie. I realized watching it how much worry and negative emotions I was putting out. How many “dont wants” I was focusing on. I can’t wait to learn more and continue to see where this new thinking leads.
