What is Spiritual Light?
Is this actually “real” or just a phrase we use to describe a way of being or a spiritual experience?
We’ve all heard of the struggle between light and darkness. The implication is that light is good and darkness is evil. We talk about the light of understanding. Even Oprah Winfrey refers to burst of knowledge as a light bulb moment.
If it is real how can we use it? Does light make a difference in our lives and how can we actually experience “the light”? We know that we, human beings, are composed of matter, atoms, bound together. New scientific thought and quantum physics considers us as light, a different form of matter.
In addition, according to new scientific thought, all matter and we our-selves consist of forms of light. In his book Vibrational Medicine, physician Richard Gerber actually describes all matter as “frozen light,” light which has been slowed down and become solid. A quantum physicist would say that light in this context does not slow down-it always moves at the speed of light. Rather the light’s photons get absorbed; its energy has been transferred. Gerber points out that atoms are primarily empty space. What fills them, he says, are packets of light that sometimes act as matter.

So, if we are, essentially light, why do we find this concept difficult to grasp- that our energy, our life force can be seen as spiritual light? Is it the idea of spirituality that bothers us? Perhaps light does not feel tangible enough? We want to feel solid, secure in our physical bodies. Those very same bodies that need light to sustain them.
“From within or from behind, a light shines through us upon things, and makes us aware that we are nothing, but the light is all.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
I remember my greatest mentor Deepak Chopra saying (and I paraphrase) This is that, that is that, you are that, I am that, that’s all there is.
I feel quite certain he was referring to energy, and what is light if not energy?
Spiritual light is healing
All of the ancient, traditional, and indigenous systems of healing, journeying, divination and enlightenment in the world recognize and use the concept of vital energy as a core element of their methods. In India it is called “Prana.” In China it is called “Chi.” In Japan it is called “Ki.” Among Kung bushmen it is called “Boiling Energy.” The Kahuna of Hawaii and Polynesia call it “Mana.” The list goes on. According to the Shaman, healing does not take place unless there is energy present and one does not remain healthy and live a long life unless he/she has a high reserve of vital energy.

In a recent interview I conducted with famous healer Dr. Eric Scott Pearl, founder of “The Reconnection”, he talked of the numerous scientific studies showing that as the body sickens and dies the actual energy of light dims.

Dr. Lee Vickers says that we can bring more and more light into our bodies and as we do we improve our physical health and also experience a sense of profound joy and peace.
Every religion has referred to light in one way or another. We’ve all heard “Divine Light”, the “Light of God”, the “Christ Light”. Could ancient religion, modern day scholars, quantum physicists and the ancient Vedas, Incas and Hawaiians all be wrong? Perhaps it’s time we took this seriously and began a practice to energize our light within and bring more light into our physical bodies.

Why should we care about spiritual light?
We live in a frantic world, a world full of awesome technology but, for many, it feels as if we are creating faster than we can handle. It is almost as if our intellect has run ahead of our emotions and souls! Anxiety, stress, the need to be successful, all take a toll on our bodies and minds. There is much evidence of the benefits of light in reducing depression, for example in S.A.D. syndrome- (see Winter Blues for explanation). Accessing spiritual light is more than that. We know that lifting your face to the sun can make you feel better; the warmth, the light fills us. Reaching deeper inside, bringing light to your heart, to your core, floods your being with energy and peace- not opposites, these work in harmony.
You know those dark days? Those days when nothing you do feels right, when you feel heartsick? Your energy is low, your spiritual light is dimmed, even if you are not aware of it.
Learning to re-energize your light brings relief from that darkness of spirit and has a physical benefit too. Click To Tweet
