Negative Thoughts - How to Turn Them into Positive Thinking

How Do I Change Negative Thoughts to Positive Thoughts?

Do you feel overwhelmed by negative thoughts? Then, think again! It’s important to realize that thoughts

aren’t necessarily negative or positive. It is our emotional attachment to and judgment of any thoughts we have that give them a negative or positive feeling and meaning. As human beings, we tend to base our thoughts and feelings on outside circumstances. We then spend a lifetime trying to unlearn that behavior. All that does is prevent us from finding peace. Countless studies have shown that we think between 50,000-70,000 thoughts a day. We spend way too much time out of our 24 hour days placing judgment on those thoughts!

There are many ways to switch gears and change your negative thoughts to positive ones. A good start is to realize that you are in control. If you are choosing to think negative thoughts, then you can choose positive ones. Sounds too simple, doesn’t it? It may seem that way at first. The good news is, it’s not too good to be true and it really works!

Accept what is and banish those negative thoughts!

One of the most rewarding, albeit most difficult, ways to switch our negative thoughts to more positive ones is by accepting what is. When we simply accept what is, without judging it as bad, there is immediate relief. We can choose to be grateful for the blessings and the lessons that we are being given through our experiences and learn to ask “what is the lesson here?” Then look for the silver lining. If we can look at what is happening in our lives and keep in mind that it is all for our highest good, we understand there is a reason, even though we may not know what that is at the moment. That knowledge will help us focus on looking for that silver lining rather than dwelling on what we are perceiving as negative. When we have faith that everything happens for a reason we know that it will all work out in the end and we will come out of it stronger and smarter. This attitude opens up our awareness to even more positivity around us and the universe will continue sending it our way. That’s another example of the Law of Attraction.

Lauren Galley knows all about setbacks in her life. During those times, she changes her negative thoughts to positive by expressing gratitude. In her blog “Setbacks: Turning the Negative Into a Positive” in the Huffington Post she writes;

“One of my favorite ways to turn around a setback is to count your blessings. Try making a list of all of the characteristics of your life you have to be thankful for. Typically, what you have is more significant to you than whatever disappointment you are facing. Be grateful for your difficulties and turn your frustration inside-out.”

At any time, whether we feel things are going well or not so well, we can always trust and turn to our inner observer. Detaching ourselves emotionally from our negative thoughts will drastically change how we perceive the events that are occurring. The negative thoughts aren’t what we are defined by. They’re not the truth of who we are. They are merely our inner ogre trying to derail us. See more at: Inner Critic

Get negative thoughts out of your head by living from the heart.

Our negative thoughts not only come from our inner ogre, but will stem from emotions such as fear and depression. They are food and fuel to the inner ogre within us. It’s so important for us to “get out of our heads”, especially when we find that we are consumed by negative thoughts. We can do this by living from our heart and not our head. Living with love, purpose and positivity will help us create the life we want. That is precisely how to make sure our thoughts stay positive. You need to notice when you’re putting your attention on what you don’t like about what you have or your fears of the future. When you believe that everything is going to turn out well before it actually happens, that is actually how it happens. It’s your belief that powers the Law of Attraction. Henry Ford said it best;

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t…you’re right.”
