EFT Therapy- Emotional Freedom Technique

What is EFT Therapy?

In short EFT therapy is Emotional Freedom Technique. It is a “tapping” technique whereby you tap specific acupressure points - the body’s meridian points (see below) to release energy blocks.

This helps in freeing the body from negative energy that is identified with bad habits, stress, pain, anxiety and even addiction. Click to tweet

How does EFT therapy work and why has it become so popular?

with EFT, you literally tap on acupressure points (your body’s meridian points) while saying simple statements and focusing on a particular negative emotion, trauma, addiction or event (the list of possibilities goes on and on). This powerful combination of ancient Chinese medicine, modern psychology and positive reprogramming is changing lives every day by helping people resolve and finally move past their greatest mental and physical blocks.

Many feel that it is effective because it uses this combination of principles. From the physical acupressure points, to a psychological approach and the power acceptance of what is and intense self acceptance.

EFT Therapy and Healing

Could healing be this easy? They say that EFT therapy has been taken from the time honored technique of acupuncture but without the needles. Oweeee!!!!!

I have used this technique with my clients on occasion. They have found immediate relief from stress induced anxiety, headaches and even a sneezing attack that had been going on for an hour. The big question is what about the long term results?

Let’s talk about EFT therapy and getting rid of bad habits, like smoking, drinking and even drug abuse. Could something so simple actually go up against these forceful habits and win? Many say yes, but like almost everything worthwhile it’s just not that easy. It’s more than one 10 minute tapping session. It takes a bit of digging into the deeper issues that may have resulted in these coping mechanisms. It is also best learned with an expert.

Today EFT therapy videos are popping up on You Tube like, well, like popcorn. I’ve watched quite a few and in most cases I would say the practitioners do seem to be heartfelt and earnest in their belief in the technique. However, there does seem to be slight differences in the order of the tapping points and words used during the process. To the lay person this can be quite confusing at first, but with some practice of the different techniques one can probably manage to find the best technique for themselves.

Why does EFT therapy use the negative habit almost like a positive affirmation? Click to Tweet

For all of you believers in Power of Positive Thinking and Law of Attraction this part of EFT can be quite a turn off. Even frightening to those who believe that a negative statement or admission is tantamount to suicide. Well it isn’t and this is why.

EFT Therapy Explained further…

First of all, it is what it is. If you’re a smoker, denying it or pretending you’re not is just stupid. The greatest of teachers have all said you must start from where you are and if you’re a smoker then lets get real! If you spend your life in denial of a problem it is still there, gnawing away at your subconscious! You cannot help but send that negative energy out into the universe, and yes, attract back more of that energy. The key word for you to think about in EFT is FREEDOM, freeing yourself from your negative habits means you need to acknowledge them first. See it as a positive intent to change and smart people know that to change you often need help. So, a “technique” for change is harnessing the power of EFT therapy to rid yourself of that negative energy for good.

I have spoken much in the past about acceptance. Accepting what is does not mean wallowing in self-pity over your

bad situation. It means knowing it is there and that you have the power to change situations that are connected to your own thoughts, your own energy. Think of it this way; have you ever had to tell someone you have made a mistake, messed up, and you are worrying about telling them? That worry can make you feel physically sick! What a relief it is when you finally tell them. It is rarely as bad as you imagine and once that error is out in the open you can take steps to make the necessary changes. Holding onto bad energy, negative thinking and anxiety simply turns it inwards and often makes you ill. It is so much better to shine a light on it and find ways to handle it.
