Each Moment is New - Live in the Present Moment

Each moment is a new beginning or a new NOW

Have you ever said to yourself something like; “Well I’ll start my diet on Monday”, or “I really blew it, I may as well keep blowing it and make the change tomorrow”. Each moment wasted not making that change, forfeits the chance of living in the now. What does this do to you beside putting off your good and keeping you in the pattern of negativity or ill health, or anything that isn’t serving you because you can always make the change on Monday, or as a New Year Resolution?

“What day is it? It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.

My favorite day,” said Pooh.”

Each and every moment is new and fresh and you have the ability to make the changes you need to right now. Right now in the present moment. What kind of magical energy does Monday have besides the one we’ve mentally assigned to it? Just because you did something a moment ago that doesn’t serve you doesn’t mean you should keep doing it, or feel guilty about it or continue that behavior until you can have a new start on Monday or even worse the New Year. Each moment is fresh and new and if experienced that way YOU are fresh and new.

“Happiness, not in another place but this place…not for another hour, but this hour.”

Walt Whitman

Don’t stay in the negative, each moment is a chance for change

When we hold onto remorse about our past deeds energetically we are in the same flow as we were in when we did whatever it was we perceived of as being not so good. You create according to your energy field. Why would you want to hang onto an energy of something you perceive as not good by constantly revisiting it in your mind, or believing you have to wait until a future date to change it? Why would you want to be in the energy field of depression or self-disapproval? That energy field will not help you to create what you want. It will simply keep you in the same state you’ve been in.

You may be saying to yourself, “Of course I don’t what to be in the energy of depression or self-disapproval, but I can’t help it. It’s just comes upon me.” Sorry folks, that just isn’t true and as long as you keep believing that lie you are using that as an excuse to not take responsibility for your life. Your life, your happiness, your success and failures, happiness and misery are up to one person and that person is you. When you take responsibility for the way you’ve handled your life up until now, your attitudes and your behaviors you have the power to now create on purpose. You have to take responsibility for all of your creations, bad and good in order to grab onto that golden ring that magically transforms your life. That golden ring is yours when you realize you already have it.

It’s time to discipline your mind to focus on the present moment. When we’re really here now we aren’t carrying our baggage with us therefore we come to this moment fresh. All possibilities are open to us in this way. Your past hasn’t been hanging onto you, you’ve been hanging onto it. Freedom is in the present moment. Read more in my post on living in the moment.

5 ways to get into the present moment and live each moment

1. Get into nature.

Go to nature when you’re happy and when you’re sad, go to nature to recharge to be here now. It’s hard to stay stuck when you’re in such beauty

2. Practice belly breathing.

It’s long been said that the breath is what connects us to spirit. This is a simple way to feel each moment and bring yourself into the present moment. It’s free, it’s easy and you can do it in public, lol

3. Play like a kid

Completely throw yourself into whatever it is without thought. Children live each moment far more fully than adults; recapture that freedom.

4. Notice your thoughts

Notice your thoughts as they come and go without engaging them. Just notice with the understanding that they are nothing more than a thought form. They are not the truth, just the particular energy you are tuning into. To understand this, read my post on being mindful

5. Blow bubbles

Just like Oprah does and watch them form and then pop!

Blowing bubbles reminds me of happiness. It makes me think of lying flat on my back on the grass, taking in the sky (sky meditation). Or standing in a grove of trees (tree meditation). Or walking through the woods with my dogs (dog-walking meditation). The best is when I get to do all three in one day. In our current economic state, we have a choice: We can reside in a place of desperation, panic and fear – or we can literally give ourselves breathing space. Take in a few deep breaths,

so, blow bubbles and enjoy each moment!

Remember, all you ever have is this moment right now, and this one, and this one, and this one oh, and this is a new one, and this one is too…..

“Forever is composed of nows.”

Emily Dickinson

This is one of the most valuable lessons you've taught me. The only moment I can do anything about is now, and I'm always creating a new one 🙂

How true is this…too often we hang onto things we didn't do, ought to do, failed to do. There is always tomorrow, we think..hmmmm..today is my favourite day. Love the Piglet and Pooh quote.
