Accepting Change-Will Change Your Life

Accept Change, It’s Gonna Happen!

Why does even the idea of change strike fear into most of us?

Many of us want our lives to change, yet even with that knowledge when something threatens to change we tense up and fight accepting change and instead want things to remain the same. How many times do we find ourselves in terror of losing a relationship that we aren’t even happy with, or a job that we detest?

Is it possible to view change the way we feel about the changing phases of the moon?

Can we accept change the way we accept the rising and falling of the tides? We aren’t frightened or stressed when day turns into night or when we move from a waking state into a sleeping one. Why then is accepting change something we resist?

If there were only daytime and no night, what would happen to the balance of the earth?

If we were constantly awake without sleep what would the quality of our lives look like? How long would it be before we would drop of exhaustion? We would lose our health as well as our ability to think and to reason. Is it possible for us to look upon and accept change in the same way that we accept sleeping as a part of what we need? Could we begin to look upon change as something that enriches us, that brings us health and gives us more experience to enjoy and to draw from?

When there is a controlled fire in the forest to make room for new growth are we afraid of what we are losing, or are we aware of the greater good that will come about because of the change? When a baby goes from diapers to underwear do we resist, or do we embrace the idea of not having to change anymore diapers and easily move into another chapter in our lives?

Would it be possible to look upon all change as giving us something we need for our evolution, but that we don’t necessarily understand? Would it be possible to view accepting change as the only thing that makes any sense? When we go to sleep we have complete faith that the sun will rise in the morning. Could we embrace change with the certainty that the outcome will be as necessary for us as sunlight?

Change is one of the ways spirit moves us toward our greater good. When we resist what is we cut ourselves off from the infinite possibilities.
